Last weekend across three states, 600 Christians gathered at three fundraisers to raise money for adoptions into 5 homes. They meet in prayer and fellowship working towards a common goal. That goal is to find Christian homes that are open to adopting children that desperately need their love, to make others aware of the need for families and financial support, and to remove the financial barrier of adopting.
Through generous donations in each location, those goals were achieved.
But so much more than that happened.
Six hundred Christians saw the power of God and His people. The power of His Plan. Six hundred Christians saw Ephesians 2:10 in action. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Six hundred Christians set aside their own interest, as we are commanded in Philippians 2:4, and took on the interests of others. The interest of the innocent. The interest of the families willing to take on the journey of adoption. It’s a road that has twists, turns, bumps, distractions, and blind corners. It is a journey that takes faith.
Six hundred Christians saw generosity and the embodiment of 1 Timothy 6:18, “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”
Six hundred Christians had the opportunity to serve, to stretch out their hands and say, “I’m here, how can I help”.
But most of all, 600 Christians demonstrated their love, their faith, their commitment to our Father. To living His purpose. To shining their light in a dark place and showing how, “…we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.Luke 18:16
