Margaret Golightly

Margaret Golightly passed peacefully from this life on May 2, 2021, at home in Keller, TX. To her family and friends, Margaret will be remembered as a beloved wife; loving mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother; caring daughter, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter; and faithful friend and coworker to many others.

Margaret was born in 1951 in Sioux City, Iowa to Robert and Louise McElwain. She graduated from Tempe High School in 1970, and then from Arizona State University in 1974.

Margaret married Steven Golightly in December 1975. They had two children, Jonathan and Amy, and raised them to love the Lord and love others. The family later grew to include daughter-in-law Melissa, son-in-law Nathan, and three precious grandchildren – Cannon, Emma, and Mason.

In their 45 years of marriage, Margaret and Steven worshipped with many dear Christian friends throughout the United States and abroad. Margaret also worked for nearly 20 years in the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District, during which time she impacted the lives of many students and made many precious friends.

Margaret loved helping others, especially young people, so supporting Sacred Selections was a natural fit! In that spirit, the family suggests contributions to Sacred Selections in Margaret’s name to celebrate, honor, and perpetuate her legacy of service.

Thousands have supported Sacred Selections over the years as a way to “care for the fatherless” through the process of adoption. These supporters see their donations as an investment in “Kingdom work”, fulfilling James 1:27, individually giving, caring for the fatherless through adoption.
