Lewis James Barbarick of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, formerly of San Jose, California passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, at the age of 93.
Lew was born on December 25, 1927, in Electra Texas, the third of eight children of James and Florence Barbarick. The family moved to California in the 40’s. Lew, enlisted in the Merchant Marines in 1945 and then in the Army in 1946 where he served in Japan as a guard at Sugamo Prison, assisting with the transfer of the Japanese prisoners to the courtrooms for the trial. Lew was a machinist by trade and later a project planner for Lockheed Missiles and Space. He was activity involved in the work of the Lord’s church, a dedicated Bible student and wonderful song leader.
Lew was preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Barbarick, his wife, Doris Crass Barbarick, and his sisters, Clara Neves, Virginia Wells, Lavenda Dickey and Mary Ann Ross. He is survived by his daughter Debbie Main and her husband Phil, his son Tim Barbarick, granddaughter Jessica Latham, grandsons Travis Latham, Timmy Barbarick, Scott Main and Brian Barbarick, his twin sisters, Carolyn Staffero and Marilyn Souza and brother Wayne Barbarick, and two great-grand children Elijah and Antonia Latham.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service celebration of Lew’s life at the Woodfin Chapel in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on January 8, 2022 at 11:00 am.
