Jesse Godwin passed away on April 22, 2020 at age 93. He was a faithful Christian from the age of 15 and worshipped with the Awin, AL congregation until around 5 years ago when he and his wife moved to Prattville to be cared for by their family. During that time they worshipped with the Christians at the Prattmont congregation. Jesse was devoted to his wife of 64 years who suffers from dementia. At the time of his death he was still carrying around the paper clipping of their engagement some 64 years earlier.
Jesse served a short time during WWII in the Navy and then attended Auburn University until his mother’s illness forced his return home. He married his beautiful wife Martha and they raised 5 children and helped raise 15 grandchildren.
Three years ago he was blessed with his first Sacred Selections great grandchild, followed by another in December of 2019.
